| Bridge of Hope initiated
implementation of the project “Women role and voice in decision
making process” in Ijeva Dilijan, Berd and Noyemberyan. The
project will last three years.
The project is implementing by financial support of Oxfam GB Armenia
and DFID. The Armenian project is the part of one global project
being implemented in 16 countries of Africa, South/East Asia, Central/South
America, Eastern Europe/CIS.
The project has goal to ensure that public policy, decision making
and expenditure, national, and customary and traditional rights
reflect the interests of poor and marginalised women, especially
those excluded from political, social, and economic life
The purpose of the project to promote the right and capacity of
poor women to engage effectively in governance at all levels through
increased voice and influence and more effective institutional accountability
Armenian context of the project
Within a newly democratized state, the Armenian project focus will
be on active and informed engagement of poor women in local government
decision making and, in particular, in the context of ensuring effective
service delivery for children and youth with disabilities.
Expected results:
1. Women leaders from civic centres capacitated & empowered
to stand for elections & participate through civic channels
in local councils, & to have an influential role in community
governance
2. Poor women & ordinary community members empowered to participate
through their representatives in local community development plans,
budget formulation, & monitoring of policy & budget implementation,
with a focus on access to social services & reduction in discrimination
on grounds of gender & disability
3. Young women & girls feel empowered as future leaders in
their respective communities through their increased understanding
& meaningful participation in civic governance & decision-making
processes at school & community levels
